Monologo addosso was born from the encounter between Elena Cornaggia’s poetry and the musicians Beatrice Arrigoni (vocals), Maddalena Ghezzi (vocals), Francesca Naibo (vocals, guitar), and Luca Martegani (production). Through extensive collaborative work at “Nitön Sound Experimentation Laboratory”, the four musicians have created a sound work that reworks and transfigures the text’s elements, seeking to fully convey its expressive depth. The result is small sound paintings of great dramatic power, in which musique concrète, electronic inserts, the use of extended techniques, polyphonic and contrapuntal writing interact to compose an evocative and expressive mosaic of colours. Monologo Addosso presents itself as a point of intersection not only between writing and improvisation but also between different styles, linked to the world of experimental and creative songwriter music. Sound, a focal aspect their research on poetry and words, is treated in various ways, sometimes as a raw, material element, a primordial essence, sometimes as a lyrical and ecstatic evocation, pure abstraction, idiom: the work’s sonic journey invites the listener into profound contemplation, expressing the urgency of an “internal” monologue capable of releasing energy and revealing the essence of all things.
